  [1] Greetings.
==================================================================
Hi All:

My thanks to all who continuously update our greetings resources
http://etailersdigest.com/resources/greetings.htm where you can learn how
to say "Welcome", "Thank You", "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year" in
many different languages and dialects. We just updated many entries across
the board. Print out the "Welcome" and "Thank You" and hang them on your
door as visitors enter your store. It's a nice touch.

List member Larry Verkeyn walks down "memory lane" with Art.com. It's
interesting to see how companies evolve.

Our favorite Bermudian offers an excellent resource for those of us who
travel to London.

Are you getting ready for the holidays? Only 95 days until
Christmas. What are you doing this year to increase business?

Today we feature list member John J. Priano, President Priano.com. Tell us
about your business which will remain for posterity at our "Members: Who
Are You?" site. http://etailersdigest.com/resources/members/index.htm And
we have a form there for you to tell us about you. As I said when I first
proposed this idea, we have "known" each other for a long time, yet we
often don't know anything about each other. So, tell us who you are and
what you do.

Now, let's get to everything for the retailer.

Sincerely

I was interested in your comments regarding POP3 access while you were in
London.

I had similar problems and have now set up a service for local road
warriors at www.roaming.bm

This allows them to have an 0845 number (local call rate in UK) so that
they can connect to their regular account on the Internet just as if
calling from home.

I have tried it from many different areas of England and it has worked
without any problems. The cost is a flat fee starting at $9.95 per week
plus the cost of the phone call. All details are at the web site along
with some tips for connecting from the UK.

We have also set up another worldwide dialup service (also at
www.roaming.bm or www.BermudaDialup.com ) which will allow access from
(almost) any country.

You will find the site to be rather Bermuda-centric but we do admit
visitors from other countries!

Hope that this might help

Best regards

Thanks Richard. Excellent resource. I'll try it next trip to London.

I'm glad Bermuda will admit visitors ;-). I almost booked a trip for this
coming weekend, just for fun. But couldn't arrange it. I will have to do
so again soon. I always did love Bermuda.

I too was surprised to see some of the retailers on that list of the top
300 Internet retailers. Art.com ranks 77. ....77! (you may remember we met
when art.com was just starting, and I was a buyer for the company).

I guess it shows what millions of dollars in VC money spent on marketing
can do.... and a 3 letter domain that speaks directly to the product
doesn't hurt.

I found it fascinating that many of the sites we hoped to emulate back in
the early years are either not on the list, or have a lower ranking. I'd be
a proud papa if I was still employed there.... aw shucks, I'm still proud.

I do remember Art.com and our breakfast meeting. Hard to believe it was so
long ago. I looked at their web site and found interesting information...

Founded in 1995, Art.com was built on the promise of the Internet. Over the
past nine years, Art.com has become the dominant online player of a $35
billion industry. Fueled by their own profits, Art.com experienced
continued double-digit revenue growth over the past five years. The
company's commitment to a customer focused business model has proven to be
a successful strategy. In 2000, Art.com achieved a positive cash-flow from
operations status- rare for an online retailer. With over a million
customer orders placed, Art.com delivers on its promise to the millions of
people who visit its website each month.

Art.com is successful because of its strong business model, diligent
execution, and in-house technology built to serve specific business needs.
The company's focus on superior selection, high quality, and excellent
customer experience has enabled Art.com to become the leading
direct-to-consumer e-tailer of prints, posters, photographs, pre-framed
art, original art and photography and custom framing. Art.com is among the
top most trafficked retail sites worldwide. The success of executing on the
founders' vision has driven Art.com to become an industry leader and to
receive numerous accolades. Most recently, these awards include being named
the 23rd fastest growing technology company in North America by Deloitte &
Touche in 2003, the distinguished StevieTM Award for Best E-Commerce
Website in 2004 and an eTail award for Fulfillment in 2004.

---
So you should be proud - you were in on the ground floor.

Whatever happened to Beth?

George
