  [1] Greetings.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi All:

List member Phyllis Lanin is looking for help in
establishing retail stores. Her company is a
clothing manufacturer who wants to enter the
retail market, and they need help. Anybody have any thoughts?

List members Quinn Halford and Matthew Kalash
report of the Best Products of the Year at the
Home Textiles show. Are you selling them yet?

Lynn Franco reports on the call for sponsors from
The Conference Board’s Consumer Research Center
who is conducting a new survey. Contact Lynn if you are interested.

Now, let's get to everything for the retailer.

Sincerely

George Matyjewicz, PhD

[2] Cost of opening a retail store
----------------------------------------------------------------
We are the US sales division of an European
manufacturer of ladies and men's sleepwear. Our
headquarters has asked that we establish retail
stores in the U.S. We need to know...

1. Does anyone have any statistics on costs and
needs to open a retail store?
2. What does it take to be profitable?
3. Is there any service that works to set up and establish a store?

We know our merchandise, and do have displays in
major, high-end retailers. We have been
advertising to bring about brand awareness.

Regards,

Phyllis Lanin
C.F.O.

Quote of the Week
“You did such a superb job telling your readers
about our community service effort and resulting
[REA] award. I hope this will encourage other
‘young’ businesses to enter future REA contests.”
— retailer Jane Lemme on the article about her
