[1] Greetings.

Hi All:
Today we are continuing with our series of common-sense Business Tips
that will help you improve your bottom line. So far we have
discussed Security, a two-part Accounting and
Administration, Technology and Parts 1 & 2 of Operations. Let's
look at Part 3 of Operations.
List member Javilk gives us a brilliant dialogue for why Flash
doesn't work with websites. He is a leading guru on Search Engine
Optimization (SEO) and I asked for some ideas. He was kind enough
to give some excellent information that you should heed, and that you
can tell your boss when he tells you he wants Flash movies.
Now, let's get to everything for the retailer.
Sincerely
George Matyjewicz, PhD

[2] Unique Products - Technology Requirements for the Apparel,
Footwear and Fashion Industries
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A detail report of the technology requirements of the Apparel
Industry, designed for those companies who need to know what they
should seek for use in their companies, and for the software house
who develop software. The Apparel Industry includes those companies
who sell fashion or apparel-related products to the retail industry,
especially to chain stores, i.e., Menswear, Womenswear, Footwear,
Accessories (handbags, scarves, jewelry, belts, watches, eyewear,
etc), Lingerie and Kidswear.
Each segment of the industry has common and unique requirements. The
most common requirements are the need for season/style/color/size in
the product identity and the use of allocations of inventory when
processing customer orders. One of the most common unique requirement
is additional attributes to product identity, i.e., width with shoes,
cup size with bras, inseams with men's pants.
Over 25 years experience with software in the apparel industry went
into this report. It will save you untold hours trying to determine
what is needed for your company. The report covers State of the
Industry, Processing Flow, Issues to Consider, Software Requirements
detailed by application, i.e., Order Processing, Inventory Control,
WMS, Traffic, Letters of Credit, RMAs, A/R (factored & non-factored),
Letters of Credit, Booking & Sales Reporting, Purchasing, EDI, CRM,
Financials and more. It also reviews some software houses and their offerings.

[3] Business Tips - Operations
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have had a series of common-sense business tips that will help you
improve the bottom line. So far we discussed Security, a two-part
Accounting and Administration and Technology. Today let's look at
Part 3 of Operations:
o Timesharing. Consider turning idle production equipment, computers,
excess office space, or anything you are not using all the time into dollars.
o Tenant Partnerships. Consider sharing some of your space with your
sub-contractors.
o Relocating. Who pays for what and can you get a break?
o Rent, Don't Buy. This is especially helpful to startups.
o Why This Form? Take a hard look at forms that you use.
o Rule 807. If you are looking for new manufacturing facilities and
are considering importing instead, consider the IRS Rule 807 tax
savings when you use manufacturing facilities of companies in the Caribbean.
o Expansion. Before you decide to expand your business....
... and much more. http://etailersdigest.com/etd/etd1009.htm#Tips...

Question: "Does anybody have some tips on Search Engine
Optimization? I'm trying to explain to a client that Flash or images
with little content will not get them listed. What are the
guidelines now-a-days?"
George Matyjewicz
Answer: No matter what you yammer at them, they just won't get it
because they are not in the right frame of mind TO get it. You
can talk to them till you are blue in the face, if they are not in
the right frame of mind, they CANNOT get it.
So, sit down with your client before a computer and try this scenario:
